As the boss mama at Black Wagon, I lean towards letting our beautiful
product take the spotlight while working diligently behind the

scenes.
I love people and love the conversations I have with customers, both regulars
who have become friends and brand spanking new people who share an
exchange of ideas and advice on everything from where to find the best burger
to how to talk to your kids about sex. Retail has always felt a little
"Mr Roger's Neighborhood" and that has been one of the most rewarding aspects
of owning and operating a neighborhood children's shop.  When it comes to a
public face, I've always been a bit shy, but I must say, I've never been more proud.

I'm proud as a shop owner of all that our team has accomplished, both in building
community and sharing the very best goods for kids and families. And as I watch
my children grow way too darn fast, I am most proud of the wonderful, independent
people they are. And as a mother, who lost her own mother at a very young age,
I'm pretty proud of myself, too, for braving unchartered waters in business and most
importantly in parenting and giving my all to both.

So on this Mother's Day, I'm coming out from behind my comfort zone and
sharing this photo that amazing photographer and mother, Cara Denison,
shot of me and one of my kiddos. I want to say THANK YOU to everyone
who has supported our sweet business over these  dozen + years.
I also want to thank the amazing network of moms that support one
another, as only moms can do for one another. And I want to wish EVERY Mother
a Happy Mother's Day today and MUCH LOVE every other day of the year!!!
